The Downsides of the Big Data Dragnet

Here is the story I mentioned last night about trying to opt out of being tracked. The author encountered many unforeseen challenges in her attempt to avoid being tracked, including offending friends and family. It’s worth considering what we get in return for all of this tracking–some of it is good, and some of it less so.  How do we tell the former from the latter?
